Quad Will Spin You

I'm not particularly athletic and I tend to get bored easily. I've had countless gym memberships which have all inevitably fallen to the wayside. But a few years ago, atLevel V Fitness, I discoveredSpinning: An all-out indoor cycling class on specially designed stationary bikes.

For the first month, spinning scared the heck out of me. It's intense and spinners are serious about their workout. When I finally got the nerve to get myself on a bike, it was Micheline who was my kind, introductory guide to what eventually turned into my one fitness obsession.

Micheline has since openedQuad Spinning, with co-owner Martin. It is a studio dedicated to the ride and it has gathered a loyal following. The atmosphere is friendly and the instructors are knowledgable and supportive. Wednesday evenings feature theme classes, including the very popular Madonna Theme Spin. So popular that Quad is hosting the officialMadonna CD Spin Release Partyon November 15th.

Quad regularly offers endurance classes (75 minute rides), DJ spins and interval training programs. Pilates is on the schedule a couple of times a week, as well.

One of the great things about Quad is that there's no need for a long term commitment to participate. Single classes are $15, but there are also 10 or 20 class packages ($120 / $220) and various monthly or yearly payment options. Good for falling off the workout wagon once in a while.

Over three years after opening Quad, they are expanding and opening a second location,Quad Westin Oakville.

I'll admit, it's been a little while since I've been on the saddle, but with brand new bikes coming to both locations, it's the perfect time to get my sorry butt back in gear.
